Solana Suffers Another Major Outage: Some traders have been unable to complete transactions in recent days

The Solana blockchain is currently unavailable to process payments. We're investigating, but don't worry. Your funds are safe and you're good to go once we get it up and running.

We're experiencing an outage and not processing transactions. If you try to make a transaction, you'll see that your transaction will sit unconfirmed - this is because the network isn't processing any pending transactions right now. We are actively working on the problem.

We're painfully aware that what happened today was frustrating. It's our fault because we wrote the code, but we've also been working around the clock to sort it out, and get the network running smoothly again. We care about Solana.

Solana Labs, the blockchain platform that has been criticized for its outages, did not respond to Decrypt's request for comment on this outage.

One of a slew of smart-contract blockchains hyped as “Ethereum killers,” Solana is a popular blockchain for minting non-fungible tokens, NFTs, and decentralized applications. After Ethereum transitioned to proof of stake on September 15, Solana is now the number three proof-of-stake blockchain by market cap behind Ethereum and Cardano—but it’s uncertain whether it will continue grow to rival Ethereum.
